As we approached the 30th anniversary of the text it became increasingly clear that this Seventh Edition should continue to include the major revision work that went into the Sixth Edition. The growing use of computer software, packaged IC units, and the expanded range of coverage necessary in the basic courses which contributed to the refinement of the last edition have continued to be driving factors affecting the content of the new edition as well.
